Sharing and Caring are the basis for true friendship.
SF Friends Who Care is a group of friends and family dedicated to sharing compassion in action. For over 30 years, we have engaged the community to demonstrate that sharing and caring are the basis for true friendship. We bring our message to the public primarily through community theater and seminars on stress management. We reach out to children, seniors, individuals with special needs, and adults in transition, connecting with over 6,500 people annually.
Most of our volunteers were raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and benefited from the community's kindness. Through our organization, we express our gratitude by actively working to expand and deepen our community relationships. We have many friends in the community and work closely with Delancey Street and the Janet Pomeroy Center.
A major part of our mission is to bring free, live theater experiences to multicultural and multigenerational audiences. Our volunteers work year-round to write the shows, compose music, sew costumes, build props, and paint scenery. All of the technical lighting, sound, and stage design and production are also done by volunteers. Our cast begins rehearsals in January and the large-scale performances premiere each year in June. We perform the show throughout the year at several different venues for groups throughout the Bay Area.
